Piecemakers Newsletter for December 2007
We are pleased to announce our new chapter officers:
Co-presidents: Ida Hoover and Betty Poling
Vice-president: Barb Morrow
Secretary: Anne Tutoli
Treasurer: Donna Sinklair
Program Committee Representative: Karen Meetz
Once again, we have adopted a family that was suggested by a local elementary school. Eileen Hepp is in charge
of purchasing items for the family—she has already found some good selections in clothing, toys, and other items.
Barb Morrow, Karen Meetz, and Barb Kingsbury pieced quilts for the three children; these quilts are now being
machine quilted. Several of our members have made items for the little girl. We will wrap the gifts for delivery
before Christmas vacation.
Piecemakers and B’s will get together for a Christmas brunch on December 11. The B’s will host, but the event
will be in our meeting room. Members of both groups (with last names beginning with A-M) will bring
refreshments. In place of a gift exchange, we are bringing food items for the Lady Lake food pantry.
Last Tuesday, twenty members of the Piecemakers group were present for the night meeting of The Quilting Guild
of The Villages. Two of our chapter members, Ginger Fullmer and Donna Starr, received pins in recognition of
their ten-year membership in the Quilt Guild. We enjoyed ice cream sundaes, and entertainment by the violin
students from The Villages Charter School.
During September and October we made twenty-three lap quilts for the VA Nursing Home in Lake City.
In November, we had a farewell get-together for Nell Frank. She and Jim have moved to Lake Port Square in
Leesburg.
Piecemakers will not be meeting on December 25 or January 1. We’ll be back on January 8, with our new slate
of officers.
Wishing everyone a happy and safe holiday season, and good quilting in the new year.
