Piecemakers Newsletter for May
Block of the Month
Karen Meetz has completed her quilt with the blocks from last month. The pattern is Oklahoma Twist. The quilt is made with black fabric that she provided and a variety of bright fabrics that were the choice of each block maker.
Donna Starr is the winner of the blocks for this month. She chose a star pattern and also provided a large selection of “star” fabrics for quilters to use in completing the blocks.
In Other News—
Members of our chapter recently sandwiched and tied three quilts that had been made by students at The Villages Elementary of Lady Lake. These quilts were part of a large group of quilts that were given to students from the school whose homes were damaged in the tornado.
Congratulations to Piecemakers who had quilts that were entered in The Applique Society Show in Tampa. Sue Ann Corkish won second place for her large quilt—Baltimore Bouquets, Conway Style. It was made for her granddaughter and is the one that won at our quilt show. Ann Vogel and Jackie Whitehead won honorable mention for their group quilt—Horse Country. Ann Vogel also had two other quilts in the show and Mary Shara had one quilt.
