Go Back

Patchwork Garden Minutes

September 7, 2009

Nothing special occurred at this meeting, I guess everyone was at a cookout on Labor Day.  However, we did have a few show and tells, Joe Comer had an origami block and showed us the demo he plans to do at the next guild meeting, Arlene and Phyllis completed their gift box placemats, the round robin folks exchanged their blocks and I can't remember what else.

Regarding the 4 sided placemat for next week, someone mentioned that they can not find template plastic large enough to make the pattern, I suggested that you go to the Dollar Store and get one of those wipe clean plastic place mats, some of them have that foam stuff on the back that is soft enough to cut with scissors, or even cheaper, you know the brown wrapper that the leave bags come in, we all have those from Wal-Mart or the garden centers, use that, it is heavy enough to use over and over and you can fold it up when you are finish, this you can't do with the large plastic oval.  Any how, next week we will make the placemat.

To make 1 placemat you will need approx 1 yd of fabric.  About 4 -15x20 pieces of fabric.

To make 4, you will need approx 4 yds of fabric.  1 yd of 4 different prints.

Dorene contacted me to correct the date for the 4 sided placemat - it should be Sept 21, not next week which is the 14th.  The calendar is so out of whack now I can't keep up.  Dorene further states that if you want to do it next week, we can.  Email me back and let me know what you want to do.  She is available to do it next week or 9/21 as original.

A survey was sent out re. the possibility of starting another chapter to accommodate the other side with little response.  Perhaps they need to put it out again.  ( I never saw it)  Also a survey will be presented asking for suggestions/comments as to what improvements we would like, our likes and dislikes, etc.

Our officers will stay in place for the upcoming year.

Several of us proceeded to make our 4-way placemat.  Since nothing is on the calendar for next week, we will complete of placement and/or bring whatever you want to work on.
