Chatham Quilters
October Newsletter

On September 30th we had a social that included the ladies from Friendship Star Quilters.  We had a great time and made many new friends.  Food was fantastic (as usual) and our entertainment included many Show & Tell items from both groups.  Thank you social committee for a job well done!

UFO Challenge:  Tuesday (October 14) is the due date for item #1 on your list.

The Guild Holiday Party will be held on December 2 at our evening meeting at Laurel Manor.  The charge for admission is a plate of appetizers for at least 10 people.

Last month we discussed a request for 8 quilts to be made and donated to the new Hospice building in Sumter County.  A motion was made to take on this project, seconded, and passed.

Dues ($18) for 2009 will be due by December 1.   Your 2009 membership card will allow you free admission to the quilt show.

Guild By-Laws:  The revised by-laws were approved at the October 7th evening guild meeting.

Retreat information:  Our girls are busy planning our retreat for March 2009.  Contact Maureen Girardin if you have any questions.

Garage Sale:  A reminder that our Chatham "Garage Sale" is on October 21st.  It's not too late to reserve a table.  It's a great opportunity to get rid of some of those quilting items you thought you'd use, but didn't...  Tables are available to share, if you find you only have a few items.

Quilt show information
  • Boutique items need to be priced so the 7% tax is included (tax will not be added separately).  Also, remember that the guild keeps 10% of the sales price.
  • If you are selling quilting magazines, they must be tied together in groups of six (6) and priced at $3.25.  When tying the magazines together, you must use strips of fabric -- those tied with string will not be accepted.
  • We need baskets for the Chinese Auction.  If you have any baskets that you can donate (you will not be getting them back), please give them to Joy Lynch.
  • We also need golf pencils -- if you have any golf pencils laying around, please give them to Joy Lynch.
  • Also needed, volunteers to help with the judging.  See Marilyn Crosby if you can help.
