Chatham Quilters

May 2007

Wow!  It’s May already!  Seems like only yesterday that we were looking forward to our retreat at Lake Yale.  Now it’s only a memory – and a very pleasant one, thanks to all the planning and hard work by Joy Lynch and Kay Hasson.  They did an incredible job, and everyone had a great time.  Also, thanks to the talented ladies that volunteered to teach the classes – it was exciting to see the lovely projects your “students” completed.  Great job, everyone!

Many thanks to Nancy Smith for Tuesday’s demo on Brazilian Embroidery.  She made it look so easy.  I’m sure many of us will be giving it a try in the near future.

FYI – At the beginning of April all guild members had the opportunity to vote for the recipient of the money raised from the sale of the charity quilt.  The organization with the most votes was “Love Inc”.

Villages Quilting Guild – May 1
* The monthly meeting will be held at 7 p.m. at Laurel Manor.  At this meeting you’ll be able to view the ribbon-winning quilts from January’s Quilt Show.  If your quilt received a ribbon, please remember to bring it for everyone to enjoy.

* Also, we’d like to “show & tell” all the quilts we’ve made for the habitat family, so have someone from your group bring your quilt to the meeting.  This is our only opportunity to display these quilts, as they will be presented to the Mathis family on June 5.  The quilts are lovely, so let’s take this opportunity to show them off!

Looking for something to do?  Here’s some upcoming quilt shows:

* May 5-6, “Quilts in the Florida Sunshine” quilt show – Best Western Gateway Grand Hotel, 4200 NW 97th Blvd. in Gainesville (I-75, exit 390)

* Sept. 20-22, Jacksonville Quiltfest Quilt Show  See www.quiltfestjax.com
