Chatham Quilters -

October 2006

Dear Quilters:
Just close your eyes and think fall . . .
What do you see? Colorful leaves of rust, red, and yellow, maybe some pumpkins? Just might be inspiration for your next quilt. Enjoy! Sandy

Block of the Month
Carmen Wray was the winner of the September BLOTTO. She has planned the block for October and has a kit ready for you. Pick one up on Tuesday morning. Your cost to participate is $1 (correct amount, please). Return your completed square no later than October 31 for the chance to win all of the squares and plan the block for the next month.

Villages Quilting Guild:

The Guild met at 7 p.m. October 3 at Laurel Manor. Nancy Prince was the speaker. That morning she taught "Photos to Master Pattern" and "Thread Painting" in the afternoon.

The November Guild
meeting will be "Market Night". Time to sell some of the items we couldn't resist buying and maybe finding some new "must have". Chatham will have four tables. Items must be marked with your name and price. More details Tuesday.

Chatham's Gae Nocella has been nominated Vice President of the Guild for a two-year term beginning January 2007. Congratulations, Gae!

Eileen Powers will be showing us how.

Chatham Executive Board

A vote was held on Tuesday re election of officers for Chatham. It was moved, seconded, and approved that Chatham should follow the Guild guidelines with regards to election of officers. A nominating committee consisting of Sheila King and Margo McClary will present the nominations for Vice President and Treasurer at the October 10 meeting of Chatham Quilters. Voting will take place the following week, October 17. The positions of President and Secretary will be held in the fall of 2007 to take effect January 2008.

October 24 - Chatham Birthday Celebration and Fashion Show
during our regular meeting. Fashions will be from Bon Worth in Southern Trace with Chatham Quilters as the models. Door prizes will be given but we need your help. We are asking for donated items for the drawings; such as fat quarters, tools, patterns, books, quilted items, etc. Turn these items in to Martha Fernez on Tuesday mornings October 10 and 17.

December 5 - Guild Luncheon

Tickets ($16) for the Christmas luncheon - to be held at Laurel Manor - were "sold" at the October meeting. Each guild member may purchase only one ticket, as seating is limited. See Ilga for availability of tickets.

Retreat - April 3 - 5, 2007

The dates are confirmed for the Chatham retreat at Lake Yale. Mark your calendar and plan to register - it should be a lot of fun. Contact any of the committee if you have questions. They are Joy Lynch, Kay Hasson and Carolyn Girvin.

DUES
of $12 will be collected soon - we'll tell you when. If you are not planning to join us again next year (we'll miss you!) but would appreciate it if you would let us know. It enables us to make better plans. Thanks so much!
