Chatham Quilters

May 2006

Dear Quilters:

May is probably my favorite month of the year.  Spring and flowers, etc. but also, sadly, the time of year when we see many of our “snowbird” quilters taking flight to other parts of the country.  Safe travel, everyone, we’ll look forward to your return and the many ideas you share with us of your other quilting adventures.  Chatham Quilters continue to be a busy group and we will attempt to keep you up to date.  Reminder – I.D.’s are being checked, don’t forget to bring yours.                                    Sandy

May 2, 2006 - Block of the Month  Congratulations to Lucille Tremblay the winner of the April “Tulip Flower Garden” BLOTTO!  She will plan the block for May and will have directions and background fabric available April 4.  Your cost to participate is $1 (correct amount, please).  Return your completed square no later than May 30 for the chance to win all of the squares and plan the block for the next month (with help if you wish).

May 2, 2006 - Just a reminder:  Please return any favors you are working on for the Quilt Show.  Thanks to everyone for their help.

Villages Quilting Guild:  The May 2, 7 p.m. meeting of the Quilting Guild will be held at Laurel Manor.   Remember to wear your name tag.  Program will be a fashion show of quilted garments created by quild members.  All guests will be asked to pay $2 to attend Guild meetings.  Wear your FAN-tastic jacket.

Did you know that a class taken through the College is tax deductible?  My information shows that the next class to be offered will be taught by Cindy Blackberg on August 1 titled “Vintage One Patch Scrap Quilting”.  Contact The College if you are interested.

Heart of Dixie Club Special Kids Program

From Joy Lynch:  A few months ago I asked for help and all of you came to my aid. The Heart of Dixie Club helps support the Special Kids program every  year. With your help we will be able to raise money with a charity quilt made by the Chatham Quilters. To date I have received 25 dark squares and 25 light squares. Those of you who still have squares to make, please try and have them to me by the first week in May, at that time I will need some help with the layout. The following week we will sandwich and baste the quilt and start hand quilting. I hope we can have the quilt ready for ticket sales starting in August. Best laid plans of mice and quilters. I could not have done this project without your help. Thank you all so much.”
