Chatham Quilters -

December 2006

Dear Quilters:

Merry Christmas, Happy Holidays to each of you

With a wish for Peace on Earth!

Sandy

Block of the Month

Marilyn Crosby is the new winner of the November BLOTTO. We decided to skip December, so she will plan the block for January 2007.

Villages Quilting Guild

The December 5 Guild meeting was a luncheon at Laurel Manor. The new Banner was on display and those that wished participated in a fat quarter exchange. Guild members were reminded of the Christmas parade on Saturday, December 9 and that members of the Guild would be participating.

The Villages Quilting Guild Quilt Show

Check out the Guild web site for pictures of the raffle quilts:

There were several reports from various committees at our Chatham meeting on Tuesday, December 5. Pam Healy discussed the Boutique and Ilga asked for volunteers for angels, greeters, admissions, and hand demos. Please contact her if you are interested. Judging of the quilts will be January 3 and 4.

Quilts for judging should be placed in a pillowcase and brought to the January 2 Guild meeting at Laurel Manor. Your name should be on the pillowcase and if you have a label on the quilt, it should be covered up (with a piece of fabric).

Quilt Frames – Please let Ilga know if you have any and what size. If you are able to assist in putting up the frames, please let her know this, also.

Quilt Sleeves (4") are needed on quilts over 45" and up to 96".

Tuesday, December 12

Betty King will show us how to make ornamental balls with fabric, cording and Styrofoam balls.

December 19 - Cookies and tea (or coffee)

Bring a treat and your own beverage as we work on our many projects. Chatham decided to have a party February 13. Details will follow.

December 26 – No meeting.

January 2, 2007 – Chatham will meet for quilting at the usual 8:30 a.m. time. Happy New Year!

Retreat - April 3 - 5, 2007

Joy reported that registration is closed. She and her committee will have a class schedule available the first week of January.

Recreation Center Staff Fund Raiser

Chatham will be making a quilt (probably in January) for the Relay of Life fundraiser sponsored by the staff of the recreation centers.

Mystery Quilt – A show of hands was taken for interest in making a mystery quilt. Carolyn Girvin will let us know details.

Habitat for Humanity Family

Details on making quilts for the Habitat Family will be presented by Kay Hasson in the near future.

Quilt Show Tickets – Anyone with tickets should turn them in to Joy Lynch as soon as possible.

Christmas Napkins – With many thanks to Mary Alice Schueler, many of us made napkins that looked like Christmas trees when folded. What a fun, quick project and a wonderful gift idea – if you can bear to part with them.

Dues of $12 are now being collected. Please make checks payable to Chatham Quilters. These must be received by December 19 at which time our membership list will be updated and a copy emailed to those on our membership list who have given us this information. If you know of someone who does not have email, please print out a copy for them.
